HUNTING IN CROATIA
“Hunting experiences in Croatia are diverse and rich. Bear Hunting
- HUNTING SEASON: 01.03. - 15.05. i 16.09. - 15.12.
The brown bear is Europe’s largest beast. Very large animal weighing up to 300 kg, measuring around 100 cm over the shoulder. Pelage pale fawn to dark brown with very long hair, especially the winter coat being very thick.The bear is a carnivore, but in addition to the meat of the hunted animal, it also feeds on plant food, so it is classified as an omnivore. He lives in a den where he spends the winter. The bear’s trophy is its fur and skull.
Red Stag Hunting
- HUNTING SEASON: 16.08. - 15.01.
Red stag is undeniably the most majestic representative of our game and has rightly been called the king of the forest, because it is of very harmonious dimensions, strong and noble. It reaches a height of up to 150 cm and a weight of up to 300 kg. The coat color is dark red from spring to autumn, and whitish on the belly. The winter coat color is dark gray. The deer’s trophy is the antlers.
Mouflon Hunting
- HUNTING SEASON: whole year
Middle sized animal of the sheep family weighing up to 50 kg and measuring around 70 to 90 cm over the shoulder. The winter pelage on the head, neck and back is dark chestnut. Most rams have a “saddle” of white starting on the middle of the back and spreading down the sides, which is gray in summer and almost white in winter. They live in small herds, have sharp hearing, a sensitive sense of smell and can see so far. The mouflon’s trophy is its horns.
Chamois Hunting
- HUNTING SEASON: 01.10. - 31.01.
The physical structure is adapted to the place where it lives, and it is built for the most difficult terrains, hence the solid structure of both body and limbs. The Chamois weighs around 40 kg, and measures up to 80 cm over the shoulder. General color is yellowish brown in summer and dark brown to almost black in winter. The Chamois has characteristic white markings on the head. The horns are fairly long, upright and bend back in the shape of a hook with distinct knobs throughout their length. The trophy of the chamois is the horns.
Roe Deer Hunting
- HUNTING SEASON: 16.04. - 30.09.
Roe deer is extremely slender. It reaches a height of up to 75 cm and a weight of 25-35 kg. The color of the fur is different from summer to winter. The summer coat is thin, the skin is a beautiful reddish brown while the thick winter coat is noble. The trophy of the roe deer is the antlers with up to 6 ends.
Wild Boar Hunting

Wild boar is characterized by a strong, highly developed body, long, elongated head. The coloration of the wild boar varies from a dark gray to brown or black. The body is covered sparsely with stiff bristle hairs and a fine undercoat. The tusks that protrude from the boars’ lower jaw are the trademark of the wild boar. The trophy of a wild boar is the tusks.
